Top Things To Do In Prague

We travelled to Prague mainly to see a Metallica Concert but here are some of the places we explored whilst in the lovely city!

Places to Go

  1. SPECULUM ALCHEMIAE - Museum of Alchemy

We found this place by chance as we were taking a stroll through the old town. We saw the word Elixirs and it immediately caught our attention.

This place offers a tour that lasts around 30 minutes for 200 CZK per ticket, the tour offers a look into how the alchemists used their laboratories and got around in secret underground tunnels without being discovered. The tour also includes knowledge of different elixirs that were used in the 16th century and their uses.

The elixirs are also available to buy at the end. This tour is perfect for anyone interested in alchemy or any mystical legends. Although the tour is fairly short, there was a lot of information and was a magical place to see and experience.

Cost: 200 CZK - £7.00

Location: Haštalská 1, 110 00 Staré Město, Czechia

2. PETRIN TOWER

Petrin Tower was a workout worth it for the view, with having to climb 299 steps (or you could cheat and take the lift up). It did feel a little shaky at the very top but you'd soon forget about that when you see the spectacular view overlooking the towns. The tickets cost us 150 CZK each (around £5.30 each). If you buy your ticket online you can get a cheaper deal!

There is a cafe and a lot of benches around for when you're finished and need a little comfort break.

Tip! Try plan your trip here to when there is less chance of school trips! When we went there was a few school trips taking place which made it very busy when going to the top.

Cost : 150 CZK for steps - £5.30

Location: Petřínské sady 633, 118 00 Praha 1-Malá Strana, Czechia

3. REON ARGONDIAN & HIS MAGICAL CAVERN

So this place is a place to visit on your way back down the hill form Petrin Tower. If you like art or mystical places to visit then make sure you don't miss it! As soon as you enter this cavern, it fills you with magic and wonder. They offer drinks and a place to sit whilst you admire the art and scenery. You can spend however long you'd like in there and a lot of the pieces were available to purchase! What we loved most about this place was how it felt like we had stepped into another little world, especially after we had just hiked up the hill and climbed Petrin Tower!

If you enjoyed the unusual then this place is worth a visit!

Cost: 70 CZK -£2.50

Location: Petřínské sady 417/5, 118 00 Praha 1, Czechi

4. RENT OUT A PEDAL BOAT

Depending on what time of the year you are going to Prague, if its a nice day then you should definitely rent out one of the many pedal boats along the Vltava River. Its a fun and relaxing way to see the water views and catch a look at the bridges from a different view! We just walked up to one of the docks along the river and they had multiple readily available so its not something you have to book in advance. We paid 300 CZK for an hour which was the perfect amount of time. We were even lucky enough to see some of the beavers swimming and along the banks.

Cost: 300 CZK - £10.50

Location: Slovanský ostrov, 110 00 Praha 1, Czechia

5. Walk along Charles Bridge

This may be an obvious one to do, but definitely not one to miss. The bridge is a beautiful and memorable walk, with statues placed along that you can admire whilst you walk along. As much as its worth seeing in the day time, my favourite time was at sunset. I also found that it was less busy towards the evening/night time. To walk along the Charles Bridge is completely free but they do have some stalls set up long the bridge which you can buy some nice souvenirs or keepsakes (some can be pricey).

Location: Karlův most, Praha 1 – Staré Město, 110 00 Prague, Czech Republic

Where we stayed

Botel Albatros

We found this unique little place online. This was a fun place to stay, with the boat being on the river and only a 10/15 minute walk from the old town. The staff were super friendly and helpful and the room was very clean.

I highly recommend staying here if you're wanting to try something different from your standard hotel. We paid about £130 for 3 nights for a double room.
